Stargate Atlantis cancelled for season 6(in a way) Argh!!!!!!
“The SCI FI Channel is calling it quits with Stargate Atlantis — or
at least in its current format — the network confirmed in a press
release today. The spin-off series will conclude in January with the
current, fifth season, and will be followed with a 2-hour Atlantis
movie (story).
Despite the cancellation, series creator Brad Wright tells GateWorld
that, looking ahead, the Stargate franchise is as strong as it has
ever been.
SCI FI will have the exclusive worldwide television premiere of the
movie, which MGM will subsequently release on DVD. The movie does not
yet have a title.
Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, executive producers and showrunners
on Atlantis for its final two seasons, will pen the film.
“We’re excited to tell Atlantis stories on a bigger canvas,” series
creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper said. “The successes of the
two original Stargate DTV movies The Ark of Truth and Continuum have
shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers. We have plans
for both SG-1 and Atlantis to remain vital as we expand the
franchise.”
“We share in the producers’ enthusiasm to move forward in this
direction and we look forward to a strong and continued relationship
on Stargate Atlantis in this new format,” said Thomas Vitale, SCI FI’s
Senior Vice President Programming & Original Movies.
“Enemy At the Gate” will be the 100th and final episode of the series,
and will air in January.
“One hundred episodes is the goal of every writer-producer,” Wright
told GateWorld exclusively. “To have achieved that with a spin-off
series is amazing. And like SG-1, I don’t feel as though anything is
coming to an end with Atlantis — it’s just evolving. Ark of Truth and
Continuum were hugely satisfying creatively for everyone involved
precisely because they were movies, and we have no intention of

How do you sleep at night knowing you stopped making stargate atlantis? You all sicken me. Stupid movie, that will get old fast. By all means make a movie but keep the series at least a little longer for crying out loud! its the foundation of everything i hold dear.
Why oh why, it is a sickening feeling knowing there will be no more stargate atlantis, i loved sg1 but atlantis is better. What is someone like me left to watch the re runs? The best sci fi program ever come people get a grip its us fans that are paying the price now just so the producers dont have too. What a great world we live in.

It is a traumatic shame that the sci-fi channel has discontinued its support of Stagate Atlantis. As an international viewer I will sadly miss the Canadian American production and wish the cast the best in the future. As for the series I believe that it is a complete disgrace that a production that has lasted 5 years is unable to continue for a further 5 years, after all Stargate Atlantis survived for 10 years and 2 movies. With the sci-fi industry playing part in millions of international viewers lives, and cauterised a generation of viewers I believe that the series will be missed and the story of ancient times can’t continue in a modern society. Stargate has played a huge part of my life for over 10 years and I will be say to see it go, with it’s epic adventures and story lines it will be sadly missed!!!

It is horrible. Shame of the sci-fi chanel! I support to make a voting for supporting the continuing of SGA! It is a great project! This project must have an equal rights like SG-1 to have 10 seaons, or even more!
This is really one of the greatest Sci Fi shows ever made. It really is a shame that the Sci Fi channel is so cheap that they will stop production of such a great and flexible story. The cast is the best i have seen in any show there had been in years. The actors and actresses in this series are so talented. To give them up makes me want to stop watching the Sci fi channel all togather. They really need to get their act togather and start thinking less like accountants and more like humans or they are going to loose their viewing base all togather.

… Atlantis came home and that’s all? They should have more and more ideas for the seareas now that it’s on earth.. by the way … how cand both the stargate at SG1 and the one on atlantis function … two stargate’s in close proxymity … one overseeds the other … so… Atlantis showld go back to the Pegasus Galaxy
I agree with everyone. its rediculous and i wish all the fans could help fund the series further, i cant stand to not see a new episode anymore. The cast was great and hopefully they will do well, and even though there will be a movie, i agree with Jacob that it will get old fast and ill end up watching it over and over =(. the Sci Fi channel has dissapointed me and crushed what i hold dear.
Man now Sci Fi can go stick there shows. The Stargate series is the only reason I even watched Sci Fi. And the Movies will get old fast because people do not want to pay $20.00 to $50.00 to watch a full movie when you can watch an episode of Stargate and only have to pay for cable. But by all means kill Atlantis. I liked Atlantis almost as much as SG1. But I hope they change there minds and make 2 or 3 more seasons. And I hope there is alot more Stargate in the Future.
I’m from Hungary, and I really love Sg Atlantis! However I like the idea of makig movie of it, but they shouldn’t stop continue making the series!! I can’t stand not to see it! It has a great story line, and the caracters are the best. The actors play excellent,they are very talented, and I’m pretty sure that they enjoyed it as well.
I hope that the writers will see that how many fan misses the series, and they”ll change their mind according to continue it. Let’s hope it…
I agree with those who say that sga must have at least 10 seasons, just like sg1. It can’t come to an end!!!
I cannot beleive that enemy at the gate was the finale…… I mean what am i supposed to whatch now? I still don’t understand why they would cancel such a great show. Stargate has been a corner stone of Sci-Fi, and for them to just cancel a sixth season, is just rediculous.
Wow really, this suck, I am really in to SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, and now they are going to discontinue the dam season, they are going to loses a lot of viewers and in the future they will have to have some thing big real big to get them one time or dedicated viewers back to Watching anything that have to do with Sci-FI.
The only reason for me watching the Sci-Fi channel was the Stargate Atlantis. The rest of the shows on that channel are very-very pour. It’s a big mistake that the show was canceled…I really don’t understand why!!

aweno matter how many movies you realease you cannot mtch the story or magnitude of the show, and i highly doubt that it was completly unfeasable for the scifi channel to back SA its just not as profitable as it used to be.
unless another season is realest it will be the end of stargate, because no matter how good the movie is its only a movie and the veiwing pleasure is great but 23 episodes of awsumness is a million times as much fun.
(and the SA team probably know this)

WE LOVE RUDE RODNEY, WE LOVE FIREY JACK, CARSON IS THE DOCTOR WHO SHOULD REMAIN IN ATLANTIS.. TODD THE WRAITH! HOW COOL IS HE? PERHAPS HE COULD BE WRITTEN IN AS A REGULAR FOR A NEXT SEASON. SORT OF LIKE TEAL’C IN SG-1. RONAN AND HIS LACK OF CONVERSATION. IT FIGURES THAT TEYLAR,{BASICALLY THE ONLY WOMAN} GETS PREGNANT AND THEY CANCEL THE SHOW..COME ON GUYS, GIVE THE PEOPLE WHAT WE WANT…..ATLANTIS-ATLANTIS-ATLANTIS!!!!!!!!!
