Family Guy

Published by gibbsfan19 under non-sci-fi Edit This

This animated series  manages to satirize everything to the limit and sometimes possibly offend viewers, but still forces you to contradict your conscience and just laugh because its so funny(as may have happenned when watching the above video).

Family Guy can be characterized as insanely outlandishly humorous. What other kind of show can make one bellow with laughter at a baby beating a dog, The Simpsons is too mildly mannered for that…. And don’t forget the fart and sexual humor

which is a plentiful topic in the series. Family Guy was created by Seth McFarland and is newly run on Fox. Previous episodes run on TBS and other channels including Fox.

Blogging Who

Published by gibbsfan19 under Doctor Who Edit This

In “Forest of the Dead”, the people of the Library were restored!!!!!!!!!!!! What had happened in the  past was the people there in order to be kept safe were stored in a huge hard drive a 100 years ago(the Biggest) where they led seemingly normal lives that were actually false… The little girl is the hard drive, it was done as such so she could live, as she had been terminally ill. Memory had to be given to the drive which the doctor planned to do, but “River Song”( a close friend from the future) handcuffs the Doctor and sacrifices herself.  Earlier To prove that she is very important to the Doctor in his future, she whispers to him his real name which few know. It is clear that in the future the Doctor will trust this woman a great deal.

Reviewing “Losing My Religion”(Greys Anatomy)

Published by gibbsfan19 under non-sci-fi Edit This

Well, this wasn’t the easiest episode to watch especially because I had no prior familiarity with the series… I did not catch all names… I will mention the plot when needed… It started out comically with background sound effects/music to that effect. Slowly it started getting more “Soapy”( containing elements of a Soap Opera). The Doctors were planning a prom(I didn’t exactly catch why). In the meanwhile there was considerable drama which is food for plots. “Chief” was trying to figure out who cut the “ellvad wires”(not sure about the spelling). Interviews/questioning began. What struck me here is the impressions that Dr. Yang gave- She seemed very uncomfortable with her work and asked “Chief” how he does it without becoming emotionally invested in it… Meridith’s dog is terminally ill and is put down… Later it becomes apparent that she has to choose between two men she cares for… Denny proposes to Izzy but ends up dying a bit later and Izzy becomes heartbroken and believes she is not cut out tp be a surgeon and quits her internship…. There were more plot happenings but no more that are important to delve into here. I believe the reason this episode is called “Losing my Religion”, is because all of the personal challenges faced vould possibly make one question their faith in God, even if for a moment.

I did not feel a connection to the characters, it feels like the show might be about “who slept with who” or “who is going to cheat on who”. I could be wrong. Unfortunately it seems sex & cheating could be recurring themes within the series. again, I could be wrong…   please comment.

Reviewing a Series/Show: Frasier

Published by gibbsfan19 under non-sci-fi Edit This

Frasier is a spin-off of the show Cheers. Cheers was all about a group of close friends at a bar named “Cheers” in Boston. Frasier ran from 1993 to 2004. The show surrounded the life of psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane when he moves  to Seattle, Washington after a disastrous marriage to Psychiatrist Lilith Sternin.  When Frasier arrives in the “windy city” he has trouble adjusting to a new life, the fact that he soon takes in his dad to live with him doesn’t help either. Let’s just say Martin Crane is more of a common man than Frasier is. Often times there way of life did not agree. Frasier is now a radio psychiatrist at KACL 780(?), giving mental health advice to callers. He has a sex-starved/boy-crazy producer named Roz Doyle. Her tendencies have made for great humor through out the entirety of the series. Frasier develops a closer relationship with his brother, Psychiatrist Dr. Niles Crane, and their urge for sibling competition never subsides, whether it be on the Squash courts or who can throw the best party, and even who gets into the wine-sipping Empire Club… We are soon introduced to a quirky, young, and attractive woman of English origin named Daphne Moon. Daphne became Martin’s health care worker who seemed to take on the role of a maid… It is not long before Niles develops a boyish, yet steadfast attraction to her, which the writers have used to get many a laugh…. Frasier is the  only television show to receive five consecutive Emmys for “Outstanding Comedy Series” and received a record-breaking total of 37 Emmy awards in its entire span…. The shows was & is very successful because of a superb cast, Kelsey grammer, Peri Gilpin, Jane Leeves, and more. The writers must also be given credit, among them were quite a few familiar names from Cheers. To see more information on this wonderful comedy I recommend Wikipedia and IMDB.

Entertainment is Stargate Atlantis!

Published by gibbsfan19 under Uncategorized Edit This

I’m writing this in sheer anticipation of Atlantis’ fifth season on Sci-fi Channel, Which is eighteen days away! Yikes. I’m interested to see how Carter’s departure is dealt with. Having Woolsey in her stead will be an adjustment for the Atlantis characters and the fans.

"The Doctor’s Daughter"

Published by gibbsfan19 under Doctor Who Edit This

Wow What a heart stimulating episode. We thought she was surely dead and then at the very end we see the chemicals from “the source” breathe new life into her. I was really moved when The Doctor held a gun to the murderer of his daughter, took it away and said I would never do that and then telling the rest to start their new world in this way! I hope we see more of The Doctor’s daughter!

Stargate: Atlantis returns July 11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Season 5!!!!!!!!!!

I’m interested to see how season 5 of Atlantis plays out. It should be interesting largely due to to the fact that Woolsey will take command. He’ll be a jerk but to his defense he has had redeeming moments. I can’t wait, I’ll admit this: I do need to watch the season 4 finale to get refreshed and get my memory jogging, July 11 10PM EST!!!!
